You can save more money with a smartphone

How often do you go to a bookstore and actually purchase a book at full price? Do you just browse at what you would like to buy, and then purchase it online because it’s cheaper? Stores have become the showroom of the modern era. I regularly go into bookstores and only purchase international magazines because I know that I can’t save money. But if I am interested in a book or Blu-ray, I always check Amazon and buy it online.

Verizon Can’t Block Tethering Apps Anymore

Thank you FCC!!!  You guys pulled through for the Verizon Android user.  Ok, so here is the scoop…the almighty Verizon Wireless corporation decided that they wouldn’t allow their smartphone users to utilize other 3rd party applications for tethering.  For those you who don’t know what that is; tethering is basically using your phone to connect your computer usually your laptop to the world wide web(internet).  Bascally, your phone turns into a modem for your laptop.  Now to do this, you would need, of course, a smartphone but also software to install on your phone.  If you were to use software provided by Verizon, it would cost you an additional fee on your cell phone bill.  So programmers were able to develop applications to download for free on your smartphone which basically made Verizon block those apps from being downloaded on any of their phones. This happened in May of last year.  Now the FCC ruled that they can’t do this and made them pay a fine of 1.25 million dollars.  Now that may not seem a lot to a multi-billion firm, but I could sure use that money to buy a house and go on a nice vacation.

Blackberry 9330 – Review

blackberry 9330 curve 3g

Today I am reviewing the Blackberry 9330 for Verizon Wireless. Aesthetically the 9330 roughly sticks to the classic Blackberry format in shape, size and layout. The easy access QWERTY keyboard and responsive optical trackpad Blackberry users love are still there. This model introduces 3G and GPS to the Blackberry line of smartphones.  This model also sports Blackberry OS 5 and can be upgraded to OS6.  READ MORE >>

Sprint Is Finally Getting the Samsung Galaxy Nexus!!!

Sprint Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE

Rejoice Sprint users!!!… Sprint has announced the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus LTE Android
smartphone for their network. After months of its initial release on other carriers such as Verizon
Wireless, Sprint will have the phone on sale April 22, 2012.  Packed with Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream
Sandwich, this device is surely going to raise some eyebrows with Sprint users.  Here are some features
on this device: 4.65-inch display, 5-megapixel camera, and 1.2GHz dual-core processor.  Also, for
all of you disappointed with Verizon’s version not having Google Wallet, Sprint’s Nexus will not just
allow Google Wallet but also up to a $50 credit for just using it.  You get a $10 credit the first week you
activate the Google Wallet account and another $40 credit 3 weeks later. Maybe this is for making
customers wait a while for the phone to be released on Sprint. Regardless, that is a free $50 credit to
spend on whatever you want.

Beware!!! Verizon Wireless No Longer Activates Alltel Wireless Devices

Fast Lane Wireless

alltel-logo verizon
So after acquiring Alltel Wireless in 2008, Verizon Wireless has decided to stop activating Alltel devices on the Verizon Wireless network as of January 16, 2012.  This includes the Alltel Legacy devices such as cell phones and air cards that were previously activated on Verizon Wireless.  Current customers with Alltel devices that are already on the Verizon Wireless network need not to worry.  This only affects the devices that aren’t on the Verizon network.
